Special Stars is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children with special needs and their families. Founded by Angelica Gonzalez, Special Stars was born from her personal experience of navigating endless hotlines and organizations, only to find little to no help. While there’s an illusion that abundant resources exist for these families, the reality is far different—it’s isolating, lonely, and often overwhelming.
Angelica’s vision is rooted in the belief that no family should struggle to meet their basic needs. She knows that when people are made aware of the need, they are willing to help. Today, the demand for essentials like diapers and household supplies has reached an all-time high, yet funding for nonprofits is lower than ever.
Unique Challenges
Many families with children who have special needs face unique challenges. The constant care these children require often makes it difficult for parents to maintain steady employment. On top of that, the additional expenses—medical equipment, therapies, and specialized care—are burdensome and often misunderstood by society. These families are exhausted, and the social service systems in place are rarely equipped to address their specific needs.

At Special Stars, we believe that something as basic as providing diapers can make a profound difference. Everyone deserves access to their most fundamental needs, and together, we can ease the burden for these families.
